Words that mean something specific on Scale and are worth pinning down before reading the rest.
| Term | What it means here |
|---|---|
| Panel | A group of mediators administered by one case manager. Booking, billing, the booking link and the email templates are managed across all of them from one place. |
| Case manager | The person running the panel. They work in casemanager.scalemediation.com and can act on behalf of any mediator on their roster. |
| Mediator portal | app.scalemediation.com. A mediator's own view of their cases, calendar, invoices and CRM. A mediator on a panel still has one. |
| Party | One side's counsel on a case, identified by email. The person who receives the emails. A side may have several. |
| Additional party | Counsel added to a side beyond the first. They are invoiced their own share and re-divide everyone else's. |
| Onboarding form | The form each party fills in after booking — billing address, contact details, participants. Invoices are raised when it's completed. |
| Brief | The mediation brief or statement a party files before the session. Some mediators call it a mediation statement; the reminders are the same mechanism either way. |
| Slot type | The length and part of day booked — morning, afternoon or full day. A full day books 480 minutes, the other two book 240. |
| Booking link | A mediator's public page showing their available dates and rates. Counsel books a mediation on it without an account. |
| Hold | A date blocked on a mediator's calendar without a booked case, placed for a named firm and given a duration. A two-day hold is released 48 hours after it was placed, to the hour. A hold given no duration is never released automatically. |
| Coupon | A named pricing override applied to a case — a flat negotiated rate, not a percentage discount. It also changes how the admin fee is charged. |
| Stripe Connect account | The mediator's own Stripe account. Invoices are raised on it and money settles to them directly. |
| Application fee | Scale's admin fee, taken on the Stripe invoice. Present whether or not it is shown to the client. |
| ODR mediator | A mediator on the online-dispute-resolution flow, which uses a different email set and a key-documents reminder in place of the brief reminder. |
| Ingested case | A case migrated in from another system. Flagged on the case, and excluded from every automated reminder because its history predates the platform. |
