How to pay your invoice
Your invoice is emailed to you after you complete your onboarding form. Everything is handled through the payment link in that email.
What you're being invoiced for
Your share of the mediation fee, plus the mediator's administration fee if their practice bills it to the client rather than absorbing it. The administration fee is its own line item, so you can see it.
Your share depends on how many parties are on the case. A full-day mediation with a $16,000 fee and two parties is $8,000 each. Add a third party and the same fee is divided three ways.
If a party is added or removed after your invoice was sent, your original invoice is voided and a new one is issued at the new amount. The old one is dead — pay the new one.

Click the link in your invoice email.
2Choose how to pay
Two options:
- Bank account (ACH) — a direct bank transfer, with no processing fee.
- Credit or debit card — major cards accepted.
If the mediator passes on the card processing fee, the page shows it as part of the card total and tells you the ACH option has none. Choosing ACH is how you avoid it.
3Pay
You're taken to Stripe to complete the payment. Payment goes to the mediator's own Stripe account.
When it's done, the mediator's case shows your payment as settled, and the payment reminders stop.
If you've already paid another way
If you've paid by cheque or by a transfer arranged directly with the mediator, tell them. They mark the invoice paid on their side, and the reminders stop. Don't pay the link as well.
Getting a copy
The same link gives you the invoice before payment and the receipt afterwards. The mediator can also download either from their end.
If something looks wrong
Query the amount with the mediator before paying. Once an invoice is settled it can't be reversed inside Scale, and correcting it means issuing a fresh invoice.
